7.  Monsanto's MON 810 corn contains the Cauliflower Mosaic Virus which, when ingested, lowers the bodies CD 4 cells to a point which, on immune tests, indicate that a person has HIV/AIDS.  The lowered CD 4 cells results from eating GMO corn, the staple of the diet in many parts of Black Africa. 8.  Merck's Gardasil vaccine causes death, collapse and chronic illness in young woman and girls, including a new, never-before described "disease" called Juvenile ALS, a fatal condition in which the nervous system is slowly destroyed while consciousness remains unimpaired.  This vaccine increases cervical cancer by 44.7% in women and girls who already have Human Papilloma Virus.  Cervical Cancer is easily detected and cured in early stages and is not a major killer of women.  Gardasil contains substances which may cause sterility in women receiving it and any protection lasts only a few years, so 9 year olds will probably not be sexually active by the time this protection has worn off. 9.  Baxter International Inc. was in the process of applying for a contract to provide Avian Flu vaccines to European countries in the event of an Avian Flu epidemic.  Its Austrian laboratory shipped Seasonal Flu vaccines to 18 countries in Europe.  A laboratory technician tested the Baxter Seasonal Flu vaccines sent to the Czech Republic and discovered that they were contaminated with a highly pathogenic version of the Avian Flu, 72 Kilograms of it, although Level 3 precautions were in place and such contamination "could not have happened accidentally" according to experts in the field. No documentation of the destruction of this highly infective material has been provided although the Austrian Health Ministry insists that the deadly viral material was destroyed. (Fact, 2008, 2009)
10.  A WHO investigation into the Baxter contaminated vaccine issue resulted in NO findings and in NO disciplinary actions.  An Austrian investigation into the same events yielded the same results. (Fact, 2009)
11.  Baxter has been rewarded with a lead role in developing, producing and disseminating the Swine Flu vaccine for the upcoming pandemic. (Fact, 2009)
12.  Swine Flu was first identified to the public as a serious problem in April/May 2009 when 168 persons in Mexico were confirmed by CDC and WHO to have died from the Swine Flu.  This number was later revised downward to only 16 deaths. (Fact, 2009)
13.  It normally takes a minimum of 12 to 18 months to create a vaccine after a specific virus has been identified. (Fact)
14.  The US Government has spent more than a billion dollars to develop and to make available the Swine flu vaccine for a disease which poses no significant health threat.  (Fact, 2009)
15.  The "Seed Culture" for the Swine Flu virus was provided to vaccine companies in May, 2009.  Baxter International Inc. announced in June, 2009 that they would have their vaccine ready in July, 2009 . (Fact, 2009)
16.  A WHO container of Swine Flu virus from Mexico City exploded on a passenger train in Luzon, Switzerland.  All of the current Swiss cases of Swine Flu are from the area where the explosion took place.  It is illegal to ship pathogenic viruses in this way. (Fact, 2009)
17.  A significant number of virologists and other scientists are on record stating that the Swine Flu was created in a laboratory and could not evolve naturally. (Fact, 2009)

Overview

Community strategies that delay or reduce the impact of a pandemic (also called non-pharmaceutical interventions) may help reduce the spread of disease until a vaccine is available.

As you plan, it is important to think about the challenges that you might face, particularly if a pandemic is severe. It may take time to find the answers to these challenges. Below are some situations that could be caused by a severe pandemic and possible ways to address them. A checklist and fill-in sheets for family health information and emergency contact information have been prepared to help guide your planning and preparation.

Social Disruption May Be Widespread

Plan for the possibility that usual services may be disrupted. These could include services provided by hospitals and other health care facilities, banks, stores, restaurants, government offices, and post offices.
Prepare backup plans in case public gatherings, such as volunteer meetings and worship services, are canceled.
Consider how to care for people with special needs in case the services they rely on are not available.

Being Able to Work May Be Difficult or Impossible

Find out if you can work from home.

Plan for the possible reduction or loss of income if you are unable to work or your place of employment is closed.
Check with your employer or union about leave policies.

Schools May Be Closed for an Extended Period of Time

Help schools plan for pandemic influenza. Talk to the school nurse or the health center. Talk to your teachers, administrators, and parent-teacher organizations.
Plan home learning activities and exercises. Have materials, such as books, on hand. Also plan recreational activities that your children can do at home.
Consider childcare needs.

Transportation Services May Be Disrupted

Think about how you can rely less on public transportation during a pandemic. For example, store food and other essential supplies so you can make fewer trips to the store.
Prepare backup plans for taking care of loved ones who are far away.
Consider other ways to get to work, or, if you can, work at home.

People Will Need Advice and Help at Work and Home

Think about what information the people in your workplace will need if you are a manager. This may include information about insurance, leave policies, working from home, possible loss of income, and when not to come to work if sick. Meet with your colleagues and make lists of things that you will need to know and what actions can be taken.
Find volunteers who want to help people in need, such as elderly neighbors, single parents of small children, or people without the resources to get the medical help they will need.
Identify other information resources in your community, such as mental health hotlines, public health hotlines, or electronic bulletin boards.
Find support systems—people who are thinking about the same issues you are thinking about. Share ideas.

Be Prepared

Stock a supply of water and food. During a pandemic you may not be able to get to a store. Even if you can get to a store, it may be out of supplies. Public waterworks services may also be interrupted. Stocking supplies can be useful in other types of emergencies, such as power outages and disasters. Store foods that:

are nonperishable (will keep for a long time) and don't require refrigeration
are easy to prepare in case you are unable to cook
require little or no water, so you can conserve water for drinking
See a checklist of items to have on hand for an extended stay at home.

It is always a good idea to practice good health habits.

Eat a balanced diet. Be sure to eat a variety of foods, including plenty of vegetables, fruits, and whole grain products. Also include low-fat dairy products, lean meats, poultry, fish, and beans. Drink lots of water and go easy on salt, sugar, alcohol, and saturated fat.
Exercise on a regular basis and get plenty of rest.

Knowing the facts is the best preparation. Identify sources you can count on for reliable information. If a pandemic occurs, having accurate and reliable information will be critical.

Call for Mandatory Swine Flu Vaccine Likely to Come This Week

The International Health Regulations (IHR) pursuant to Article 21 of the Constitution of the World Health Organization (WHO) came into force in June 2007 and allow the General-Director of WHO to declare an international health emergency. This was accomplished when a Level 6 Pandemic was declared by WHO on June 11, 2009.

Reuters predicts that WHO will announce its call for mandatory "Swine Flu" vaccination as early as Monday, July 13, 2009.

GENEVA, July 10 (Reuters) ...WHO will probably hold a media briefing on Monday to issue guidance about the need for a H1N1 influenza jab, a WHO spokeswoman said on Friday."

During an international health emergency, WHO's Director-General can impose regulations, including "sanitary and quarantine requirements and other procedures designed to prevent the international spread of disease".

UPMC unveils plans for vaccine factoryPittsburgh Business Times - by Kris B. Mamula

The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center on Friday took the wraps off an ambitious plan to create a first- of-its-kind vaccine factory, enhancing the nation’s preparedness against a bioterrorist attack while eventually creating as many as 70,000 jobs in western Pennsylvania.

The factory hinges on getting government approval for the concept and winning $580 million in federal dollars when the project is competitively bid, UPMC officials said. The total cost would be around $900 million, with the balance coming from UPMC’s private industry partners, such as pharmaceutical companies.

At a U.S. Senate Appropriations subcommittee hearing in Downtown Pittsburgh where the idea was unveiled, Sen. Arlen Specter said he was preparing legislation to get government funding approved. In recent months, Specter has become an outspoken proponent of the idea, partly because of the nation’s lack of vaccine-making capacity.

“I’m very concerned about the lack of preparedness,” Specter said. “It can’t be business as usual.”

The plant would operate as a nonprofit UPMC subsidiary, which could make a single vaccine or several vaccines at once. No location has been chosen for the plant, but UPMC President and CEO Jeffrey Romoff said he favored a place near the old Pittsburgh International Airport because of its proximity to military installations and air transportation.

The plant would focus on making medications to counteract chemical, biological or radiological threats, but not seasonal flu; private drug companies already make those vaccines.

The plan would create 1,000 direct jobs, up to 6,000 indirect jobs, and many multiples of that number in new biotech jobs the plant would attract to the region, as many as 70,000 jobs total, Romoff said. “We’re talking about creating a new industry and an industry without bounds,” he said.

UPMC has already been talking up the idea to industry and political leaders for several months and have been in discussions with potential partners, according to UPMC Chief Legal Counsel Robert Cindrich. He declined to elaborate on those discussions.

“I’m impressed with the proposal,” said Dr. Bruce Gellin, director of the national vaccine program office of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, who also testified at the hearing. The department has explored several models for increasing vaccine production capacity, including a public-private partnership like the one proposed by UPMC.
